COACHING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM
The whole household is in recovery.
Family Support coaching for spouses, parents, siblings, and adult children. Done one on one, on your schedule, with the same framework that holds the addict's work.
THE WORK
You did not cause it. You cannot control it. You cannot cure it. And you are still in it.
The slogans of Al-Anon are true. They are also incomplete. Knowing you cannot fix the person in your life does not actually tell you how to live next to them, support them, set limits, take care of your own body and mind, or stay in a marriage that the addiction has hollowed out.
Family Support is one-on-one coaching for the people who have spent years managing a loved one’s addiction or recovery. The frame is the same as the work we do with the addict, three pillars (spiritual, mental, physical), but the application is yours.
We work on:
- Communication tools that actually land with the person you love
- Boundaries that are sustainable instead of brittle
- The grief of the relationship you thought you would have
- Your own physical health, which probably has not been the priority for a long time
- The identity question: who you are outside of being the manager of someone else’s life
GOOD MOMENTS TO START
When to Engage
During an active intervention process
When we are running an intervention, family coaching alongside it is what tends to make the outcomes durable.
When the person is newly in treatment or early sobriety
The first 6 to 12 months of someone's recovery are also the highest-friction months for the family. This is when the coaching matters most.
When the relationship has stabilized but you have not
A common moment. Your person is doing well. You are exhausted. You have not had a Tuesday to yourself in years. This is your work.
