MALIBU · OAHU
Two settings. One return.
Malibu, California, for the executive who needs to keep his work moving while he does the most important work of his life. Oahu, Hawaii, for the man who needs to step out of his life entirely to find out who he is.
EVERYONE IS RECOVERING FROM SOMETHING
The same work, either way.
For some men it is a substance. For others it is the company they sold, the marriage that ended, the injury that finished a career, or twenty years of being whoever everyone else needed them to be.
The particulars differ. The shape does not. For high-performing men, the deeper wound is identity. Who am I without the game. Without the mission. Without the title on the door.
The discipline that made you successful is often the same discipline you now use to avoid yourself. More of it will not get you where you are trying to go. What will is a guided passage, built on a curriculum drawn from Joseph Campbell, Richard Rohr, and Shunryu Suzuki, and delivered through the body rather than a workbook.
One curriculum, one standard, and three pillars held every day in both settings. What differs is how much of your life you bring with you.
Spirit: Reconnection. A morning ritual installed on the first day and never broken. Meditation and deliberate silence. You leave with a written rule of life, designed to survive contact with an airport, or a board meeting.
Mind: Rewriting. Daily one to one coaching. Identity mapping, narrative work, and the slow deconstruction of the persona you built to survive the first half of your life. The container served you once. The work is deciding whether it still does.
Body: Reclamation. Strength and performance training, breathwork, heat and cold, bodywork, and meals prepared by a private chef. Assessment at the start and the end, so the change is measured rather than felt.
Some men need to change their life while living it. Others need to leave it to see it clearly. We built two settings so that nobody has to pretend to be the other kind of man.
SETTING ONE
Malibu, California
Executive care, without walking away from your work.
For the man who cannot simply disappear. He runs a company, a practice, a fund, or a team that depends on him, and stepping away entirely would cost more than it is worth, or would hand him the perfect reason not to come at all. Malibu is built so he does not have to choose.
Protected working hours. The day is built around a defined window for your work, with a private, quiet place to do it. Your work is contained rather than abandoned, and the rest of the day belongs to the program.
Your work becomes the material. The patterns that brought you here live inside your work. In Malibu you practice the change in real time, in real meetings and real decisions, and bring what happened to coaching that same day.
Coaching at the level of identity. Not performance coaching. How you lead, how you decide, what you are protecting, and who you are when the role is set down at the end of the day.
Boundaries you can actually keep. Devices live inside the work window. Outside it, they are put away. Most men discover their work survives this far better than they feared, which is a lesson worth taking home.
Complete discretion. Nothing about your participation is ever made public, and nobody at your company needs to know more than you choose to tell them.
Close to home. Within reach of Los Angeles, your family, and your clinicians. When the program ends, the transition home is short, because you never really left it.
A Malibu day. Wake, no devices until after silence. Cold and breath, then a short silence outdoors. Training before the first call, not after the last one. Your work, in a private, quiet space. Then coaching, one to one, with the day’s work as material. Recovery: sauna and cold, bodywork, or mobility. Dinner. Phones in the basket. The day spoken aloud.
Working is an option, never an expectation. If your work is part of what is pulling you under, we will say so, and the work window can close.
SETTING TWO
Oahu, Hawaii
Deep immersion. Step out of your life to find out who you are.
For the man who needs to disappear for a while. Distance is not a side effect here. It is the intervention. Far from every familiar cue, the persona you built has nothing left to hold on to, and what is underneath it finally gets some air.
Nothing to manage. No work, no inbox, no calls. The phone is put away when you arrive. For the first time in years, nobody needs anything from you.
Distance as the work. An island in the middle of the Pacific, far from the pull of home and the habits that live there. You cannot drift back into the old life, because it is on the other side of an ocean.
The full arc, uninterrupted. Every hour belongs to the program. Silence, challenge, and coaching, without a work window to break the current. This is what lets the deepest part of the work happen.
The ocean and the land. Genuine physical challenge outdoors, with your coach beside you. The island asks things of you that a conference room never has, and you find out what you are made of.
Who you are without the role. The question Oahu is built to answer. Not who you are at work, to your family, or on paper. Who you are when all of it is set down.
A clear return. You come home having seen yourself clearly, often for the first time in years, with a written rule of life and a plan to carry back into the life you left.
An Oahu day. Wake, no devices, at any point. Cold and breath, then silence, longer as you go. Training, the day’s physical discipline. The day’s work: ocean or land, the part that changes. Alone: enforced time apart, not optional, and not together. Coaching, one to one, unhurried. Recovery: sauna and cold, bodywork, or mobility. Dinner, cooked for you. The day spoken aloud.
AT A GLANCE
Which is right for you
Both settings can take you all the way. The question is which one you will actually let do it.
| Malibu | Oahu | |
|---|---|---|
| The idea | Change your life while living it | Leave your life to see it clearly |
| Your work | A protected window each day, with a private place to work | Set down completely |
| Devices | Inside the work window only | Put away on arrival |
| The pace | The program woven through a working day | Full immersion, every hour |
| The setting | The Malibu coast, close to home, family, and clinicians | An island in the middle of the Pacific |
| Best suited to | The executive who cannot step away, or whose change is best practiced in place | The man who needs real distance to find out who he is without the role |
In both: the same curriculum, daily one to one coaching, three pillars every day, no alcohol at any point, complete discretion, and structured aftercare.
Malibu, if you cannot step away from your work without real cost to the people who depend on you. You want to practice the change inside the life you already have. Your family or your clinicians are nearby and part of your recovery. You have disappeared before, and the change did not survive coming home.
Oahu, if your work is part of what is pulling you under. You need distance before you can see yourself clearly. You have tried changing in place, and the old life closed back around you. You are ready to set everything down, at least for now.
You do not have to decide alone. We will tell you plainly which setting we think suits you, and why, and sometimes the answer is the one that is harder to hear.
What follows, from either setting
The immersion produces a state change. Structured follow-through is what converts it into a trait change. It is included, because it is not optional to the outcome.
The first days home. A call before the first week is out, and another at the end of it. The drop is real and predictable, and it is where the work is either protected or quietly undone.
Coaching that tapers deliberately. Frequent at first, then easing as the structure holds on its own. The measure is not whether it holds while someone is watching. It is whether it holds when nobody is.
A specialist network where you live. Trainers, clinicians, and practitioners vetted and introduced in your own city. That is a call we make, not a list we send.
Your family, if you want it. Partner and family sessions throughout. The change lands on people who did not sign up for it, and they deserve help reading it.
A living plan. Your rule of life and non-negotiables, revised as they meet reality. A plan built in your best month is a hypothesis. Follow-through is how you find out which parts were true.
An honest exit. At the end, we say plainly whether you need more support, and if so what kind. Frequently it is nothing from us at all.
HOW IT STARTS
The first step is a conversation, nothing more.
Deliberately slow. Either of us can stop at any point before contract, with no cost and no explanation owed.
1. A conversation. Unhurried, with no structure, no assessment, and nothing to sign. We are trying to understand what is actually happening in your life and whether this is the right instrument for it.
2. Choosing the setting. Malibu or Oahu, decided together. We will be honest about which one we think you need, which is not always the one you would choose.
3. Readiness and clearance. Intake, physician clearance for the physical programming, and an honest conversation about how you have handled being alone.
4. Your plan. The engagement is built around you: your history, your goals, your work, and the people who matter to you. Nothing about it is off the shelf.
5. Preparation. Dates confirmed once your plan is set. A preparation protocol begins before you arrive, covering sleep, training, and, for Malibu, how your work will fit around the program rather than the other way round.
Whether this is for you
We turn down more men than we accept, and almost never because of money. Being honest about this early saves everyone a difficult conversation later.
This tends to work when something ended (a career, a company, a marriage, an era) and you have not replaced it. You got through the hard part, and the life on the other side does not feel like yours. You are functioning by every external measure and know it is not the whole truth. You have done the clinical work and need what comes after it. You can be told something you do not want to hear.
This is the wrong thing if you need medical detoxification or acute psychiatric care. If you are in crisis right now and need a clinician, not a coach. If you are newly sober and still need stabilization more than you need this. If someone else is sending you and you have not decided to come. If you want Malibu so you can keep running everything, and change nothing.
If the second list describes you, say so on the call. We maintain relationships with treatment centers and clinicians across the islands and the mainland, and pointing you to the right one costs you nothing.
